"Boys in the Band"

Over a Decade and a half of
Great Jammin' - Fort Payne, Alabama

The Alabama Band in Concert Residents of Fort Payne are finding it hard to believe that after a over decade and a half of live performances by their "hometown" boys - that there will be no more June Jam. Shortly before the 1997 Jam the group announced that there would be no more Fort Payne June Jams and expressed their regrets to local citizens and fans across the nation.

Randy Owen singing to a packed house of admiring fans

It has been a wonderful experience and for that we say "Thank You!" to Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry, Jeff Cook, and Mark Hearndon. The Jam and those events surrounding it involved hundreds of local people and it effected nearly every citizen of Fort Payne at one time or another. We are aware that "The Boys" could have taken the Jam anywhere in the country but chose to honor us by staying in Fort Payne.

Jeff Cook playing the fiddleThe financial contributions of the June Jam (donations of nearly four million dollars) to local and national charities and nonprofit organizations is well documented, but the thing we will all miss it the actual fun of the June Jam Week festivities here in Fort Payne. Sure, it was a lot of hard, hot work, but the rewards we all reaped made it worthwhile. All of this was made possible, by not only the group Alabama, but by the staff of the Alabama Fan Club and the June Jam headquarters.

During the 16 years of the June Jam more than 100 well-known country artists have appeared on the stage. Whoever your favorite is...they have probably performed on stage in Fort Payne, Alabama.

Mark Hearndon on the drumsJust because the Jam won't be rocking the mountains and valleys of Fort Payne, it doesn't mean that the super group Alabama isn't still a great attraction for this city. The Alabama Fan Club and Museum is open to the public and the friendly faces that visitors have come to expect are still there to welcome them. Stop on in and see why that old tune, "My Home's in Alabama" continues to remain a staple when it comes to tunes from our hometown boys and Entertainers of the Decade - Alabama. The Jam may be gone, but the "Boys in the Band" will never be forgotten...after all, this is their home.
